Band members:

Jiří Kodajek

alias George, Jíra či Džiří Kořalek

He is active in a number of successful bands like JazzjamQuartet and GyML Jazz Band, and plays in three orchestras, Tremolo, Tachovský Brass Orchestra and Brass Orchestra Mariánské Lázně. In 2008 Jiří, along with trombonist Jindřich Jindřich, gained international musical experience in Canada and Europe. As a result they were inspired to found the Pilsner Jazz Band. When not  playing the trumpet, he works as a company administrator, studies part-time, or simply drinks beer. His favourite jazz musicians and multi-showmen are James Morrison and the trumpeter Al Hirt.

Jindřich Jindřich

alias Henry

A full-time Student of Economics and an ardent jazz fan. In addition to playing with the Pilsner Jazz Band he leads the Big-Band Mariánské Lázně, has played in Germany with the Kepler-Big-Band-Weiden, led the GyML Jazz Band and is a member of the Brass Orchestra Mar. L. He likes listening to the Dutch Swing College Band, Elligton, Basie, Miller and Kenny Ball Jazz Band. In addition to jazz he has a weakness for beer, is a whiskey collector (full bottles, which are sometimes mysteriously empty and must be replaced) and one day hopes to own a veteran Mercedes- Benz.

Jaroslav Kanta

Multiinstrumentalist, in addition to wind instruments he also plays the accordion. Apart from the Pilsner Jazz Band he plays in the folk music band Little Rokytka, in a unique bottlerock-band Empty Bottles and informal pub band Šumaři. Previously he was a member of a brass orchestra and Junior Big Band ZUS Rokycany. He is a great fan of Benny Goodman  who "sure knows how to lick an  instrument well". In addition to music he likes dance, sport and good food and drink :-)                        - Instruments: Clarinet Buffet Crampon B, tenorsax WELTKLANG, sopransax

 

 


Michal Lehký

Enthusiastic pianist who always inclines towards jazz. He has played as a bandmember in several smaller bands, and featured as a soloist at music school concerts. He learned jazz from an outstanding professor of music. For several years Michal also taught piano to private families. If he's not playing and he has time he works as a personnel manager for one company and as a web administrator for another. Amongst his idols the biggest are Teddy Wilson and Earl Hines.
- Main instrument: Yamaha DGX 630, but can play any keyboard or piano he is given.




Marek Levý

alias Čáp

He is the oldest Aquarius in the band. In his youth he did not understantd  jazz but one sunny day his eyes were opened by a miracle and so began a love of jazz. In honour of the birth of his son he started to persue the world of music more activelys. PJB is his first jazz band.






Ema Bauerová

As a child she began to train her ear, singing in the choir and playing the violin and flute. Studied stringed instruments whilst attending  ZUŠ. Later she studied bassguitar to try other genres than "just" classics. At the begining she started to play with jazz Big Band Roman Kopecky, followed by bands of different styles such as bluegrass, reggae, funk, punk, ska, groove, latin. Finally, she  decided to try elements of jazz in the summer workshop in Prague at the KJJ, which gave her a real taste to learn and play and play. Currently she is studying bass at KJJ and hopes to continue for some time. She loves Richard Bonn, likes Mehldaua Chin, David Dorůžka, Robert Balzar, Philip Spálený and many others ...

Marta Bauerová
